As a Nebraska educator, you know first hand the talent and skills your high school students possess. You also know that there are certain areas that with a bit more focus, students could thrive in. Nebraska Leadership Seminar is here to help empower your students to reach their full potential.
Founded in 1978, Nebraska Leadership Seminar, Inc. (NLS) is a nonprofit organization focused upon helping students recognize their leadership strengths through a partnership with the Gallup Organization. Each year, NLS hosts a four-day seminar for high school sophomores and juniors to challenge, empower and inspire them to become the leaders Nebraska needs.
NLS 2022 will be June 9-12 at SCC Milford
You are invited to register two (2) students to participate.
Your students will be exposed to interactive team building activities, prominent Nebraska and national leaders and community service – all of which help them discover, develop and apply their leadership skills. More than 6,000 students from over 300 school districts across Nebraska have attended this seminar.
Why should my student attend NLS?
NLS, from the Corporate Board, Alumni Association and Seminar staff, is composed nearly entirely of volunteers. The dedication and passion of these individuals provides future Nebraska leaders with knowledge of themselves, their strengths and what they can do to impact their communities.
Students get a true on-campus experience as they live in the dorms of a higher education institution.
NLS’s curriculum is based on the discovery, development, and application of a student’s leadership skills, making them more self-assured and confident in their leadership abilities, and being true to who they are as a person. We call this leading with their authentic self.
NLS supports your students even after the seminar is over by offering reunions to hone in on their developing skills and further promote the networking established during the seminar.
Communities of purpose
Students who have had the honor of participating in this once-in-a-lifetime experience have demonstrated a heightened interest in leading school organizations and are more involved in their community, inspiring them to make a difference.
Through the Gallup Organization's StrengthsFinder Assessment, students learn how their strengths contribute positively to all aspects of their lives, and impact their interactions with others in their community.
